Nagolie Nkera Children's Orphanage Center

Faith, Hope and Joy

Nagolie Nkera Children's Orphanage Center (NANCOC) is a non-profit shelter for orphaned and vulnerable children. The majority of the children come from the Maasai community of the Kajiado District in the expansive and arid Rift Valley Province of Kenya as well as from Nairobi and its' environs. Today it is home to 24 children ranging from 3 to 16 years of age, most of whom attend primary school during the day. Although NANCOC hopes to accommodate more children, it is forced to turn many away, as resources are severely limited.

NANCOC intends to target and partner existing NGO's (non-government organizations), civil society organizations, corporate entities and individuals to improve the lives of orphaned and disadvantaged children, specifically in rural areas. Additionally, it will aim to educate the local community and raise awareness of tuberculosis and the HIV/AIDS epidemic, while encouraging similar projects by other groups and individuals.

Currently, most projects of this kind are concentrated within major urban centers.  NANCOC's focus is on the rural hinterlands.  With success in this area, it is our goal to assist NANCOC in motivating institutions, government and donor agencies and individuals to go to work in these neglected areas that present a socio-economic timebomb.

Short term, our mission is to rescue and rehabilitate more HIV/AIDS orphans and vulnerable children, while at the same time expanding our facility.  In addition, we continue to work on self-sustaining projects while providing the necessary support and education for eventual independence.

With your support, NANCOC can continue to address the critical need to reach rural areas and promote social and economic empowerment to disadvantaged people. Thank you for your consideration.
